Icon Iron Fallout Remover
Detailers Pride Icon is a pH balanced Iron Contamination Remover. Icon works by reacting with iron fallout which can be on your vehicle and allowing for them to be rinsed away. Its colour change formula will bleed purple upon contact with contamination showing you when it is working. Finally, unlike many others, Icon smells borderline, quite nice!
What causes iron fallout to be on the vehicle?
Iron contamination or fallout can be from a number of sources, heavy industrial areas, railway lines and most commonly your vehicle's brakes. Tiny pieces of iron filings can come from these sources and embed into your wheels, paintwork and other areas.
Why do I need to remove iron fallout?
As part of the decontamination process, it's important to remove iron fallout. Iron filings embedded in your vehicles paintwork or wheels not only will leave a rough finish but also could lead to premature rusting or damage to paintwork.
How Icon works
Icon works by reacting with iron contamination and loosening the contamination allowing for it to be rinsed away. It features a colour change formula so you can see when the product is ready to be rinsed away.
Icon can be used as a wheel cleaner however can work out to be an expensive way of keeping your wheels clean. We strongly recommend the use of a traditional wheel cleaner for regular use and then use Icon periodically for a deeper clean.
Icon will react with the brake dust and bleed, allowing for most of the dirt to be rinsed away with a jet wash.
When used like this, the fallout remover is usually busy attacking the brake dust that stubborn contaminants can be left behind. This is why a wheel cleaner would be better to use first and then use Icon after to attack the stubborn iron deposits like in the photo below.
How To Use
Before use, it's important to note do not use on hot surfaces and do not allow to dry on the surface.
Bodywork decontamination - Ensure the vehicle is clean and washed before application. Spray Icon on all areas of the vehicle and allow to work. When contact is made with iron deposits it will bleed purple. To finish the process simply rinse away.
Wheels (dirty) - Ensure wheels are cool, spray on to the wheels and allow to bleed. If wheels are really dirty, agitation with brushes may be necessary. Finally, rinse clean.
Wheels (cleaned) - Clean the wheels first with a traditional wheel cleaner to remove light brake dust. Rinse wheel cleaner from the surface and proceed to spray Icon on to the wheels. Allow to bleed purple and then rinse.
Our bucket sticker set lets you easily identify what bucket is for what process. Included is 3x 180mm high-quality foil stickers with Wash in blue, Rinse in red and Wheels in Black.
The two bucket method minimizes the risk of inflicting swirl marks in your paintwork by separating the dirty water (rinse bucket) from the clean water (wash bucket). Simply fill the rinse bucket up with water and the wash bucket will contain your water with shampoo. Dunk your wash mitt in the wash bucket and clean a section of the car. Bring the mitt back to the rinse bucket to clean it out before dunking in the wash bucket again for a fresh dose of clean wash water and repeat until the whole car is clean.
It's important to have a separate bucket for the wheels was this will become very dirty with brake dust which is extremely abrasive and would cause scratches to your paintwork.
Grit Guard Washboard
The Grit Guard Washboard is an innovative attachment for the existing Grit Guard contained within our Wash Bucket & Grit Guard combination. It's angled position allows you to scrub the Wash Mitt against it to dislodge grit and other harmful contaminants from the mitt, making the wash process even safer.
Grit Guard is not included with this item.
Wash Bucket & Grit Guard
The Detailers Pride Wash Bucket is a tough, heavy duty 20L car wash bucket which comes complete with a Grit Guard. The Grit Guard provides a barrier between the dirt and grime at the bottom of your bucket and your wash mitt. The design of the Grit Guard prevents dirt and grime from travelling back up and into the wash mitt.
The Grit Guard makes for a safer wash routine and greatly minimises the risk of inflicting swirl marks and scratches in your paintwork.
The Two Bucket Method
For the ultimate in safe washing of your vehicle many detailers and enthusiasts use the Two Bucket Method. How this works is by splitting up your clean 'wash' water and dirty 'rinse' water. Fill your wash bucket with shampoo and the rinse bucket with just water. Take your wash mitt to the wash bucket for fresh wash water and proceed to wash a panel. When the panel is washed take the mitt to the rinse bucket and rinse the wash mitt out in there, making sure to squeeze out excess water. Then return the wash mitt to the wash bucket for a fresh dose of clean wash water. Repeat this process until the whole vehicle is clean. Inspect the buckets after, you will see the benefit!

Caring for your Wheel Woolies
We strongly recommend using the Wheel Woolies in conjunction with a "Wheel Bucket" by this we mean a bucket, separate from your washing buckets you can keep dunking the woolies into to keep them clean during use. This will keep them working to their full potential and minimise the risk of inflicting scratching or marring on the wheel. Very much like you would keep your wash mitt clean whilst washing the car.
Finally when you have finished with the Wheel Woolies, rinse out thoroughly and store in a clean environment ready for use again next time you wash your vehicle.

The Detailers Pride Clay Bar is perfect for removing contaminants from the paintwork. Clay Bars remove contaminants like tree sap, overspray, tar, fallout and more to leave a smooth, decontaminated surface ready for polishing and waxing.
A decontaminated surface will be easier to polish and wax and the wax will have a better bond to the surface, increasing its durability.
Using The Clay Bar
We recommend cutting this bar up into 6 chunks, keep the remaining 5 chunks in the plastic wrapper and in the box for now. Knead the chunk of clay into a coin shape. Ensure the vehicle is clean before claying.
Proceed to spray clay lubricant onto the surface of the paintwork and the clay bar. Working in small sections at a time rub the clay bar up and down the paintwork, periodically reapplying more lubricant to the surface.
Once each section is complete wipe it down with a clean microfibre towel. The clay bar will become soiled over time so you need to re-kneed to ensure you have a clean side is in contact with the paintwork. Once a clean side cant be found on the clay bar grab a new piece from the box.
